The Coffey Reviewer: Episode #9 - My Smurfy Valentine and Smurfily Ever After

Happy Valentine's day everybody!

And since it's Valentine's day today, I would to show you something I have done last November. However here is some interesting facts about this project.

It was originally going to be released around last Valentine's day in 2013, but due to writer's block and revisions on the script - the release date was then moved to somewhere around August, in which "The Smurfs 2" was released in cinemas, focusing on a story of Smurfette's adventures in Paris with Gargamel and his other two creations - the Naughties.

The script was revised around the time in Summer, however I needed some more time to focus on recording all of my lines which was started in August, as well as recorded myself on camera with some Smurf toys around me for the occasion. But alas, the release date was moved again - to November, the year where Lucille Bliss (the voice of Smurfette in the Smurfs cartoon) had passed away that month in 2012 at age 96.

Despite it had been a most troubled production to date for me, I have finally got around to editing at the end of October and eventually finished the project in November - just in time to celebrate the first year without Lucille.

And now - here are the links to the double feature episode and it's deleted scenes, with all the history and facts about the character of Smurfette herself.

Arcelia - My perspective thoughts

(Gavin, Teresa and Simon performed one of their songs at the Finsbury pub)

What is Arcelia you'd may ask? The fun fact about it that it's a spanish word for "treasure chest". Interesting eh? Well here's more of my perspective thoughts about Arcelia in general, and it's members too.

Before meeting the trio behind this marvellous band, including Teresa Gallagher (Thomas & Friends, Mr. Men Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Cars 2, Octonauts etc) herself, I mostly adore animated films and shows as a kid. I used to watch Cartoon Network throughout the mid 90's and up to 2003, it was like a cold trip down memory lane I'll say.

Now many talented people does their unique job at providing great voices to match their characters, like Ed Wynn for Mad Hatter in Disney's "Alice in Wonderland", both Sterling Holloway and Jim Cummings for Pooh Bear, Tom Kenny as Spongebob, late Lucille Bliss as Annatasia (Cinderella (1950)) and Smurfette (The Smurfs; 1981) and lots more. Although Teresa Gallagher is no exception, for not only for being a wondrous actress in both television and film, live action or animated nonetheless - but she has a lovely personality on the inside, for knowing whenever I meet her, she remains calm and friendly in such a gorgeous voice tone.

And that is not all, you have got to love her singing voice - even whenever she is on stage with Simon Foster and Gavin Alexander of Arcelia. (including one beautiful song she performed that almost made me want to shred a tear with happiness)

Here is the link to this one song she performed, check it out! You'll love it to bits!:

Before I have really met her twice in person as of September 2013, I also met her on Twitter at the end of August and she seems positive, loveable and friendly there too. (Even for whenever I give her simple compliments regarding her voice-over work and Arcelia too)

On my second time meeting her at the Troubadour pub in London, I bought in some flowers for her to show my appreciation after our first meeting at the Islington pub, along with having her signed in a collage of her characters (as well as having her, Simon and Gavin to sign my copy of their MP3 CD of Arcelia! Thank you chaps!) in many children's television shows she's involved as actress. Here is the signed collage.

This has really shown the sign of appreciation to one another, because I have never felt so happy to be not only a great new friend to Teresa, but a loyal fan of her work as well.
(Teresa if you are reading this, I would like to thank you for making 2013 worth while for me - and to keep a good company in me. You are FAB! X)

Gavin and Simon are also great singers too in their own unique way of performing for the audience, old and new. Now meeting Simon as though seeing him as an enthusiastic and optimistic guy, and Gavin as a joyful and fine fellow as well. What was better than just come up to hear Arcelia is to meet lots of new people including Teresa's friends, voice-over and non voice-over.
(This is a picture of me standing next to Keith Wickham after our first great chat!)

Those I have met including Mark Nevin, Keith Wickham (Thomas & Friends, Mr. Men Show, Octonauts, The Secret Show, Angelina Ballerina and more), Emma Tate and Nigel Anthony (TUGS), it was worth a privilege to meet these great talented people alongside Teresa, Simon and Gavin!
